CPI

The Consumer Price Index tracks price changes across a basket of goods and services and is one of the main inflation gauges investors follow.

The CPI is a report, not a verdict. It helps markets estimate how sticky inflation may be and whether the Federal Reserve will feel pressure to keep policy tight.

For investors, the practical question is usually not “Was CPI good or bad?” but “Did it materially change the path for rates, bond yields, or the businesses I own through broad funds?”
